Anna Fitzgerald-- While sitting is a hospital room with Kate and Sara thinking about what will happen if she were to donate a kidney the sheriff enters and awkwardly hand Sara an envelope. Inside is the court sentence for Anna's case, a case which her mother was unaware of. After Sara opens and looks at the documents Anna runs out of the room. At home Sara is furious with Anna wondering why on earth she would do such a thing as file a law suit. In her frustration Sara slaps Anna. Even though Kate is upset about the lawsuit she still wants to be friends with Anna since she isn't sure if they are sisters still.
Sara Fitzgerald-- Another flashback to 1990. Sara and Brian meet Dr. Chance for the first time, Kate's doctor. Sara's sister Suzanne hasn't talked with the family in a while and considers Sara a failure, but with Kate being sick Sara gives her a call, so that she can come help take care of the kids. After having Kate be officially diagnosed there were so many questions Sara and Brian asked about their daughter and her illness. Kate's type of leukemia is rare and can fend off the treatment so while she is one one the doctors are thinking three treatments ahead. Kate starts chemo in hopes to kill off some of the diseased cells, but will cause her to get sick. As well as Kate starting chemo the Fitzgerald's have Jesse tested to see if he has a genetic match to his sister for a bone marrow transplant. Which he doesn't so while thinking about if Kate will die Sara decides that she wants to have another child, not to replace Kate, but to possibly save her.
