Campbell-- Campbell keeps having flashbacks to when he dated Julia in high school and how he treated her poorly. His friends teased her, his parents were rude, and then he started to ignore her, finally he just ended their relationship. In the present Campbell is working on the case by talking to the doctor at the hospital Anna has been admitted to eight times yet they have my medical records to offer him. He then runs into Julia and convinces her to go out to eat with him and talk about the case. He still avoids questions about his dog and gives people dumb excuses for having a service dog. Campbell the gets a call from Anna asking him to come to the police station. Upon arrival he realizes that Anna wasn't in trouble Jesse was for stealing the Judges car and Anna wanted Campbell to bail him out, which he reluctantly did.
Brian-- Brian confesses to Campbell that he is on Anna's side in this court case. If Brian can stand and testify then there will be no chance of Anna and Campbell losing this case. Brian thinks back to a time when he shouted at a boy who was taking life for granted and almost killed his girlfriend who overdosed. Then as Campbell leaves he tells Brian about bailing Jesse out of jail for stealing a Humvee.
Sara-- 1997 Kate needs a bone marrow transplant, but it is very expensive and insurance wont cover it. Sara's sister Zanne offers to pay for the transplant, but Brian says they don't need the money since the fire fighters have raised enough money for it. When Kate goes to do pretransplant chemo she cleans her room completely before going to the hospital in case she doesn't come back. After Anna's surgery to extract the bone marrow her dad gives her a gold locket. After the transplant Brian decides to take Sara out to dinner, but they have nothing to talk about except Kate since for years Kate has been the main priority. Sara then finds out that all the money Brian supposedly raised wasn't actually raised. Brian took the money out of Kate's college fund since she probably wouldn't live to make it to college anyway.
