On May 19th, 1966 Jodi Picoult was born in New York, New York. Jodi grew up in Long Island as an only child with her parents Myron and Jane Picoult. Myron worked as a securities analyst, while Jane taught preschool. After her graduation, Jodi had to get many jobs to help her pay her rent, but all related to writing. She was a technical writer for a Wall Street brokerage firm, a copywriter for an ad agency, an editor and even an 8th grade English teacher. There is no doubt that Jodi was meant to be an author. Jodi is still living and at the age of 49 has become the best selling author of 23 novels. She is still writing and releasing books, her most recent novel, "Leaving Time", having been released at the end of 2014. Jodi is currently married to Tim Van Leer and they have three kids together, one of her sons being the reason for her writing "My Sister's Keeper". Her and her husband live on a farm in New Hampshire along with her two springer spaniels, two rescue puppies, two donkeys, two geese, ten chickens, ducks and the occasional Holstein. Other than being an author Jodi is the founder of a teen theater group that has concerts to raise money for charities and up to date they have raised more than $100k.
