Campbell part 1-- It's raining and Campbell's dog Judge has his face against the window trying to catch raindrops as they slide down the glass. Campbell sits down beside the dog even though he should be getting ready to close his case with Anna, but instead he watches the weather. Julia comes out as well having stayed at Campbell's house asking about who showers first and he says her, he too deep in thought. He is worried about the outcome of Anna's case hoping she will get on the stand. While he wants to win nobody really wins, even after the case is closed it won't be over.
Jesse-- It's raining. He starts walking down the street, past an elementary school and two intersections before he starts running until his lungs burn. He throws himself down in a soccer field where he once took acid during a thunder storm and waited for the lighting to strike his heart and for once in his life make him feel alive. It didn't happen that day and it didn't happen today either. There has to be a better way.
Anna part 1-- It's raining, a rain that sounds like a shower running and makes you think of building a ark. This rain makes Anna wanna crawl back in bed and pretend the clocks fast. Rain never stops moving once it falls it makes its way into the ocean then evaporates and then like everything else it starts again.
Brian part 1-- It's raining like one the day Anna was born. It was supposed to snow but instead downpoured closing ski slopes. No stars could be seen that night, so Brian decides that Anna's name would be Andromeda, Anna for short, after the princess in the sky.
Sara-- It's raining and Sara has to give her closing argument and right before starting abandons her note cards. She goes on to tell Anna that she loves her, but she just always jumps to things that could save Kate. Even though both Kate and Anna don't agree with her Sara wants to save both her children not just one. She compares it to a burning building. If one child was stuck inside and the only person who could get them was her other child, sending in the other child could mean losing them both, but it was also the only way to save both. It may have been crazy and immoral to ask a child to do that, but it was right.
Campbell part 2-- He too trashes his note cards before starting his closing argument. He starts with saying that this law suit isn't even about Anna having to donate a Kidney, but for a thirteen year old to decide who she is and who she wants to be. The only voice that everyone should be listening to is Anna's not anyone else. After a fifteen minute recess Judge DeSalvo comes back with a framed picture of his daughter saying that this case is about the quality of life versus the sanctity of life. Kate's sanctity has become intertwined with Anna's quality of life. The Judge decides that only Anna can decide how to treat her own body. Campbell is awarded medical power of attorney over Anna and Anna is to decide what she wants t do with her own body.
Anna part 2-- There is horrible visibility from the car Anna's riding in, with the rain pounding down on top of it. It has only been a half hour since Anna was medically emancipated and Campbell and Anna are on there way to the hospital so Anna can see Kate. Even after winning her court case Anna doesn't know what she wants to do and Campbell isn't being any help. Anna does say that in ten years she would still like to be Kate's sister.
Brian part 2-- Brian gets a call that he is needed for work, there was a car accident. When he arrives he is told that the driver of the truck was thrown out of the windshield but the passengers of the other car are still inside. While climbing through the truck to get to the passenger side door of the BMW. When looking through the broken bloody glass of the passenger window he sees a face he wished he hadn't. Anna was the passenger. Brian the starts to scream to get them out and punches another fire fighter out of panic. By the time Anna is out of the car she barely has a pulse and on the way to the hospital flatlines once. At the hospital nothing could be done, Anna was brain dead. So Campbell having medical power over Anna says that her kidney is to go to her sister.
Sara part 2-- After the donated organs are removed from Anna's body is brought back down and Sara and Brian are the last to go in and say goodbye to their youngest daughter. Sara holds Anna's hand as Brian turns off the respirator.
